projects started and finished throughout my elementary and middle
school years. Many requests from friends with their colors and my price
being for the supplies.
I began working a job as soon as I turned 16. I worked two jobs, a
factory where my Dad worked and the other at a video store. Besides
saving for car insurance, beads became my expense of choice. As soon
as I discovered wholesale suppliers and local craft shows to attend, I
applied for my resale/Tax ID.
Beads are always fun but can get expensive, especially those really cool
$12.00 each beads! Thus, making my own, seemed to be the next thing
to do. The world of polymer clay is such a wonderful one! Making
beads of clay just like venetian glass bead makers is so intriguing! And
in Italy the bead makers are traditionally men! So much clay time passed
and many books on polymer started to become published.
So I became known as a polymer clay jewelry maker. I did years of
shows selling my handmade clay bead/design wares. Well, my collection
of other beads began to grow because I only used them to accent my
clay creations.
This is what I do now, jewelry-making with antique beads, vintage glass
beads, limited press glass, my own polymer clay beads, crystals,
semi-precious stones and only accented with Sterling Silver, 14 kt gold
fill or Vermeill. I feel like I don't want to be categorized. As I was in the
past, it limited my creativity. So anything goes! And my prices reflect
that also. If I use an expensive selection of beads and use a lot of gold
for example, it's because the creative project wants to be made that way!
My goal is to not limit or hoard the "expensive" supplies, it's to utilize
every palette of color and component to create wearable bead jewelry
that encompasses quality, beauty and just totally ROCKS! Feel free when
creating-it's the whole point!
Over the years almost 1000 birthday parties and classes have been
transformed into COOL, CREATIVE, FUN times with Laurie Lynne too!
So many after school program courses, adult education and private
classes all over the state have requested my skills over the years!
